Gateway to Encounter by Masayuki Nagase

Gateway to Encounter by Masayuki Nagasa was created with 4 different types of granite, all from Texas. Nagase studied drawing and oil painting at Tokyo University of Art, from there he spent five years training in traditional stone-carving in the granite quarries of Inada in Ibaragi-ken, Japan. Nagase was one of the sculptors asked to join the original symposium in 1976, which was the start of his international work. Since then he has participated in numerous international sculpture symposiums, and has also taught at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg, Austria and the Kornaria Sculpture Summer Program in Croatia.
