Jean Paul Philippe attended Beaux Arts of Paris at the age of 16 where he studied different styles of art. In 1960 he traveled to Italy and the next year moved to Florence where he worked at the Drawing Cabinet of the Offices. He also has works in Japan, Italy, Egypt, Belgium, and his native France. His sculpture Tirez Moi De La incorporates 2 inch naval howitzers.
Philippe has only been working as a sculptor since 1973. At that time he did a marble carving in Carrara, Italy.
He has exhibited in the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture in Paris each year since 1973. In 1973, he also participated in the Biernnale de Sculpture at the Musee Rodin.
Philippe exhibited in “Drawings and Sculptures” at the Galerie Paris Miromesnil in 1974. For the last two years, he has exhibited each year in the Salon Contradictions at the American Center of Paris and in the Sculptura in la Cita in Italy.
Prior to his work in sculpture, Philippe studied painting at the Beaux Arts of Parts from 1961 to 1965. He held a drawings exhibition in 1966.
